The U.S. waste industry is built on an antiquated model of maximizing landfill tonnage and increasing the frequency of trash pick-ups in order to generate maximum profit. But the increasing demands for cleaner air and purer water far outweigh the environmental and socio-economic costs of burying our garbage.
