The RUBICONMethod™ is a six-step system for setting up and maintaining a successful business recycling program. Following the familiar acronym “DIVERT,” the six steps stand for Determine, Initiate, Vocalize, Eliminate, Roll-out, and Track.
Rubicon’s mission is to end waste. Based on the three R’s (reduce, reuse, recycle), we want to provide our cities and businesses with a practical guide to help them improve their waste programs and initiatives on waste reduction.
Customer Story
Food waste makes up 50 percent of the material buried in landfills each year. This means that food is an incredibly impactful item to consider when looking at overall waste footprint.
Disposable tableware is a prominent waste material in many restaurants and business break rooms. Polystyrene (i.e. Styrofoam) cups, plates and to-go containers, as well as plastic utensils, are rarely recyclable. Replace them with reusable kitchenware and reduce unnecessary waste material.
Replace individually packaged goods with refillable dispensers. Examples include replacing individual coffee pods with a pot of coffee, plastic water bottles with a filtered water tap, individual creamers, and sugars with bulk dispensers.
