Rubicon Comments on Ellen MacArthur Foundation’s New Plastics Economy Global Commitment Progress Report

Atlanta, Georgia (October 25, 2019) — Rubicon today commented on the Ellen MacArthur Foundation’s first annual New Plastics Economy Global Commitment progress report, which was released by the foundation on October 23, 2019.

The progress report, which according to the Ellen MacArthur Foundation, “provides an unprecedented level of transparency on how almost 200 businesses and governments are reshaping the plastics system,” listed Rubicon as a signatory of the foundation’s 2018 Global Commitment. Other signatories of the commitment include companies representing 20 percent of all plastic packaging produced globally, according to the foundation.

“From the very beginning, Rubicon’s mission has been to end waste in all its forms, and as such we are proud to stand with the Ellen MacArthur Foundation and be a signatory of the New Plastics Economy Global Commitment,” said David Rachelson, Vice President of Sustainability, Rubicon. “Eliminating the use of unnecessary and problematic plastics is essential to solving an environmental crisis. This commitment demonstrates that like-minded companies, governments, and organizations are uniting to bring about a new production and consumption model that places an emphasis on waste reduction and recycling.”
