Rubicon, the world’s leading provider of cloud-based waste and recycling solutions, is proud to announce its recertification as a B Corporation, a community of businesses using market-based solutions to solve global challenges.
Rubicon is one of more than 1,600 Certified B Corporations™ in 43 countries, representing 130 industries. Created by nonprofit organization B Lab, the B Corporation certification recognizes companies that use business as a force for good. Notable Certified B Corporations include Patagonia, The Honest Company, Ben & Jerry’s, Etsy and Warby Parker.
“Business is one of the most powerful ways to drive change in our world,” says Nate Morris, CEO of Rubicon. “Rubicon, our business partners and customers are committed to driving global good through a free market grounded in transparency, accountability and sustainability.”
Businesses take a B Impact Assessment, which measures the company’s impact on its employees, suppliers, community and the environment, to become certified as a B Corporation. Rubicon earned 106 points on its 2016 B Impact Assessment, with governance and the environment as particular areas of excellence. 80 points are required for certification; the average among all B Corps is 95. B Corporations must also meet strict legal requirements to ensure they remain committed to social and environmental responsibility as they grow.
“Forward-thinking companies like Rubicon demonstrate that making money and making a difference not only can go hand-in-hand, but can be mutually reinforcing,” B Lab co-founder Jay Coen Gilbert says. “Rubicon is growing in impact as it grows its business and is an inspiration to the next generation of entrepreneurs around the world.”
Rubicon’s mission-driven atmosphere helps it attract the technology and sustainability industries’ top hires. The company’s benefits include free health care premiums, paid maternity/paternity leave, monthly volunteer activities during work hours, paid professional development and eligibility for a six-month sabbatical every three years.
The company is continuously working to improve its B score and will go through an assessment every two years. To view Rubicon’s B Impact Assessment and learn more about B Corporations, visit http://www.bcorporation.net/community/rubicon-global.
