Stephen Goldsmith currently serves as the Daniel Paul Professor of the Practice of Government at Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government.
Mayor Goldsmith was the 46th Mayor of the City of Indianapolis, Indiana from 1992-2000, serving two terms for a city of nearly one million people. He also served as Deputy Mayor of the City of New York with a focus on operations. An early thought leader in the growing smart city movement, Mayor Goldsmith has written nearly a dozen books on issues related to data-driven government, and how municipalities can produce better, faster, and cheaper results with the use of technology. His blog Better, Faster, Cheaper, hosted on Governing.com, and his Harvard project Data-Smart City Solutions, are among the most widely read and shared blogs on smart city innovation in the world.
