Welcome to the Haul of Fame, a weekly series from Rubicon in which we sit down with a hauler partner to talk about their company, their community, and how they’re collaborating with Rubicon in our mission to end waste.
Team Waste is an independent hauling company offering construction, industrial, and commercial roll-off services, along with commercial front-end load services in the greater Memphis and Mid-South area, as well as DeSoto and Marshall County in Mississippi. Based in Byhalia, Mississippi, Team Waste has 65 employees managing 30 sanitation trucks across its fleet. Team Waste is a family-controlled business started by second-generation hauler owner and founder, Wally Carter, that has been working with Rubicon since 2015.
Chris Carter, Vice President of Team Waste, sat down with Rubicon to talk about the company and mission for the Haul of Fame.
How does Rubicon’s mission to end waste match-up to Team Waste’s own company mission?
Team Waste: Team Waste has always been dedicated to being a strong steward of the environment. As an independent, family-controlled business, we are a part of the communities that we serve. A deep commitment to sustainability is very important at Team Waste. We’re continually seeking new ways to reduce our environmental footprint through innovation and our technology and industry partnerships.
How does Team Waste distinguish itself from the competition?
Team Waste: Team Waste is first and foremost founded on the belief that excellent customer service is the lifeblood of our business, and that it is every employee’s job to ensure that our customers are cared for with constant responsiveness and reliability. Second, Team Waste focuses on strong local partnerships that can be developed by our employees and the customers we serve right here in the Mid-South. Whether our customers are municipalities, industrial, commercial businesses, construction and demolition companies, or individual homeowners, we look forward to creating and building a relationship with them by providing quality service at a fair price.
What is the view of Team Waste when it comes to participating in the circular economy and helping build a more sustainable future?
Team Waste: Our company aims to provide a more sustainable future in our communities by providing recycling and waste reduction solutions for homes and businesses; disposal facilities with state-of-the-art engineering and construction techniques designed to protect the environment; cleaner operating trucks and equipment utilizing lower sulfur fuels and more efficient oils; safer and more responsible maintenance practices; and give back to those communities we serve through environmental education and outreach.
What do you love most about the community in which you work, and the customers you serve?
Team Waste: We love being the only local hauler in the Mid-South area offering all major waste collection services, and providing our community with the best possible service, at a fair price, every single day.
Where does Team Waste see itself five years from now?
Team Waste: This answer is simple—the largest hauler in the Mid-South!
